Chennai Super Kings have won last four out of six matches they played against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The competition has become intense in IPL 2020 and in the 21st match of the tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders will lock their horns against one of the most successful franchise in the tournament i.e. Chennai Super Kings. Both the teams have won two matches each but Chennai Super Kings has played one more game than KKR.
Kolkata Knight Riders enter into this game after loosing their previous match against Delhi Capitals while chasing a mammoth total. However, their last game has raised several questions especially about Dinesh Karthik. Being the skipper of team, Karthik has failed badly in batting department. He is batting up the order in this season while several cricket experts feels he should bat at number 6.
Although Kolkata Knight Riders have better batting lineup than Chennai Super Kings. Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russel form a very strong middle order but unfortunately, after having such players in the team, KKR has lost 2 matches out of total four matches they played so far.
Sunil Narine has failed at top order which leaves Kolkata under pressure in powerplay itself. His position as an opener is under serious threat, with Tom Banton available as specialist opener. If KKR still wants to play Sunil Narine due to his bowling ability, Rahul Tripathi could be promoted up the order.
Their biggest worry is the flop show of their bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav is undergoing a poor form since last season. With costliest bowler of the season in their rank, KKR’s bowlers still have leaked lots of runs. Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti lack experience which is hurting team’s performance.
On the other hand last year’s runner up – Chennai Super Kings made a statement by chasing a total of 178 by 10 wickets. CSK made a perfect start of their campaign by beating defending champions in their opening match. Since then they went on to loose consecutive games.
Shane Watson finally returned in form as he played a fine innings of 83 that came off just 53 deliveries. Apart from Watson, Faf du Plessis is consistently scoring runs for Chennai. Return of Ambati Rayudu has made them tougher team to beat.
However, bowling lineup of CSK is much better than that of Kolkata. Deepak Chahar has got swing, Sam Curran is keeping run rate under control while Piyush Chawla is picking up wickets. Ravindra Jadeja’s form may be bit of concern. Overall a cracking game is on the cards.
