Both teams have defeated each other in league stage matches

Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first eliminator of Indian Premier League 2020. Being an eliminator it’s a do or die game for both the sides as winner of this match will go into second eliminator and looser will be out of the tournament.

Both teams have defeated each other in league stages. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad are on a three match winning streak whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost their last four matches in ongoing tournament.

Looking at team form, Sunrisers Hyderabad registered one sided victory in their last league game over Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets. SRH chased down a total of 150 runs in just 17.1 overs and became fourth team to qualify for the playoffs. If we look at history, both teams met earlier in IPL 2016 final match where SRH managed to beat RCB by 8 runs.

During initial days of the tournament, Sunrisers Hyderabad were struggling with team combination and were placed on bottom of the points table. Return of Kane Williamson and inclusion of Jason Holder turned around things for SRH. Currently they are the only one who have defeated rest of the other three teams that entered playoffs round i.e. Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore in league stages.

Since 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad have qualified for the playoffs. They lifted maidan IPL Trophy in 2016, finished third in 2017, were runner up in 2018, finished fourth in 2019 and currently they finished third in league stages.

David Warner is the highest run scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad whereas Rashid Khan has best average in terms of bowling at present. The duo will be play maker and the team will want them to continue their fine form during playoffs if they want to be champions for the second time.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore started their campaign on a higher note. But during last phase of league stages, RCB seem to have lost their momentum. They lost their last league game against Delhi Capitals and qualified for the playoffs due to better run rate over Kolkata Knight Riders.

RCB is one of the most loved team of IPL as two greatest batsmen of present era play for this franchise i.e. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. This time RCB built their team wisely and bought some reliable players in auction. Inclusion of Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch has lifted up team’s spirit. Morris has been very valuable as an all rounder for RCB in ongoing season.

At top of the order, Devdutt Padikkal has impressed everyone with his consistency. He has scored 472 runs in 14 innings at an average of 33.71 and is overall fourth highest run scorer. Apart from Padikkal, skipper Virat Kohli has scored 460 runs in 14 innings at an average of 46.00.

In terms of bowling Yuzvendra Chahal has been in fine form and managed to pick up wickets consistently. In 14 matches, he has picked up 20 wickets and is overall fourth highest wicket taker in this tournament.

Although biggest worry for Royal Challengers Bangalore is lack of consistency in middle order. RCB has lost most wickets during middle overs of the game and need to work upon this area as their opponent Sunrisers Hyderabad is known for its bowling. It will be a contest between a side that rely on its batting and other is known for its bowling. Hence a cracking game is on the cards.
